JPN 101: Chapter 5 is Over

So, well, Chapter 5 is over. We had the test last Thursday. As usual, we had listening, writing, grammar, and reading sections. The listening section was so fast! So really fast I wasn’t sure about what I heard and thus not sure about my answers. I think if I got them right, that’s mostly because my guessing logic is good, but not necessarily my listening comprehension. *Sigh I guess that’s how my students felt when they had listening test πŸ™ˆπŸ˜ You want to listen to the audio more and more times, but you’re desperate since no matter how many times it’s repeated, you just couldn’t get it. Then you wish it is played much more slowly, but again, that’s not how the test is like πŸ™ˆπŸ˜…

The result is out! This is actually a high score, hut compared to my previous Chapter Test scores, this is the worst πŸ™ˆπŸ˜… And you see, number 1, I asked the teacher bout the right answer. She said it’s “behind the tree”. I knew it. That’s what I heard but I wasn’t sure because I thought it didn’t make sense. LoL I was right after all. Haha And the other mistake? Well, I just wrote it randomly because I wasn’t sure what the other adjective was πŸ™ŠπŸ™ˆπŸ˜…πŸ˜βœŒοΈ

And the grammar is getting more difficult and complicated, too. I mean, I think we needed more practice on that. But, well, I could boast that grammar is my thing, so it’s not really a problem for me. But, we’ll see. I’ll update the score and the picture later when I’ve got it back.

And, well, I think the easiest part this time was reading section. I had no problems understanding the text and answering the questions about it. As long as I knew the words that I read, then it’s alright. But, well, we’ll see.

The other mistake I made. No 14. I was confused between the two. Apparently, I chose the wrong answer πŸ™ˆπŸ˜…

And so, today, Friday, April 6, 2018, we had to choose the numbered stick again to change seat and partners. That’s because it’s a new chapter, the last chapter. The teacher first drew the seats on the board and numbered them. She then asked one of the students to hold the sticks for everyone to take. Well, I accidentally saw the number on one of the sticks so I intentionally picked it up because it was the seat that I favor and I was worried if I didn’t take that one stick I’d get the seat that I don’t like. I’m not sure if this is considered cheating of if it’s unfair. I mean, it shouldn’t be a big deal because the purpose is to change seat and get a new partner, so as long as this new seat is new and the new partner is someone I’ve never been paired with, I think it should be alright. It’s okay, right? πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ Dang, I wish I hadn’t seen the number. But anyway, hopefully nobody is disadvantaged by that. I do feel bad and guilty, though. And I really don’t like that feeling πŸ˜” Do you think I’m being too serious? πŸ˜”

Well, the reason why I favor the seat? Well, I couldn’t ask to have the same seat that I love from before, that way it won’t be fair, I think. I mean, if one student asks to be treated specially then another student will want to have the same thing, and it’s somehow kinda unfair for other students. But, (I’m making excuses right now, so bear with me, but I guess I’ve told you that making excuses is one of my specialties. Somehow I need to find a reason and do something to make myself feel betterπŸ™ˆβœŒοΈ), well, the stick that I picked…yes I saw the number, but even if I had not seen the number, I would still have the chance to pick it. Let us say, there were 22 sticks with different number for 22 students. So everyone would have the same chance (4.5%) to take any number, right? My chance to get the number I took was 4.5%, like everyone’s. So I think it’s alright. I mean, if I purposefully hadn’t taken it, the chance would still have been the same. So, ok, it might have been wrong, but, well, forgivable πŸ™ˆπŸ˜ŒπŸ€—βœŒοΈβœŒοΈβœŒοΈ And, wait, now I realized one thing. That’s not really my fault after all. All students might have seen the numbers too! The numbered ends of the sticks should’ve been held upside down, i.e. at the bottom, so that the ends with no numbers were on top so that we could not see the number. But the numbered end of the sticks was on the top, that’s why I could see it! Right, it’s not my fault 😝😝😝 Now you see first-hand how good I am at making excuses to make myself feel better πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚βœŒοΈβœŒοΈ

I took this from my new seat 😁

Ok, enough with the seat excuses. And let me just tell you which seat it was. It was the one at the left side on the first row. Chapter 6 will be the last chapter on this course and the teacher says it will be the most difficult chapter so it’s important to have a good seat πŸ˜ŒπŸ€— In Chapter 3, I sat on this side, but the second row, basically the one right behind my current seat. In Chapter 4, I sat behind my Chapter 3 seat. So it was great. It is great. When I come to the class, I don’t have to pass many students. I just need to open the door, turn left, pass only two students but it’s ok since the aisle is quite wide, and then there it is: my Chapter 6 seat 😍❀️😌✌️

And a couple of things: for the one-minute reading this week, I read really fast 😍😍😍 I read more than usual. I got to repeat and read the text on the reading sheet before the one minute was up! It’s such an accomplishment for me because I’d never been able to do that previously πŸ™ˆπŸ˜« So yeah, I was happy 😁

And, today I forgot to bring the right book for the first time! πŸ™ŠπŸ™ˆπŸ˜…βœŒοΈβœŒοΈβœŒοΈSo I prepared the book and put everything into my bag the night before, right? Apparently, instead of putting my Handbook I put the student handbook, the one for homework. There was no homework for today. And I just realized this after the quiz in the class today, at the beginning of the class. Gosh. I guess that’s because I was reattaching the returned homework sheet to the student book the day before, that’s why it was on top of my desk instead of the Handbook. Jeez, I should’ve been more careful and checked again before putting it into my bag. *Sigh

Thus, I kept praying that the teacher would not discuss anything on the textbook that day but my wish wasn’t granted πŸ™ˆπŸ˜ Inevitably, we discussed some exercises on the book on the last 10 minutes of the class, but I didn’t have it with me, so I just followed ‘blindly’. It was listening, though. We watched a video and the questions were on the textbook. The teacher asked us to read the questions on the book before playing the video and discussing the answers. I kept praying that the teacher wouldn’t call my name and ask me to read the question. My luck, she didn’t. I was prepared to say “I’m sorry, I brought the wrong book” had I been called. But I wasn’t called. I was really lucky and happy. Or maybe the teacher somehow knew that I took the wrong book with me, that I didn’t have the book with me πŸ™ˆπŸ˜… so maybe she didn’t want to make me feel embarrassed πŸ™ˆπŸ˜… She’s so nice I really love her 😍❀️😍

At the end of the class, I asked another question. Not sure if it’s because I felt guilty, but I had really been meaning to ask it since some time ago anyway. The teacher, (it’s Sensei B btw, the youngest teacher 😊❀️), thought that I asked because of One Piece. But I told her that’s not it. I told her I watched other J-movies. She thought I watched other anime. But that’s not it. So I told her the last drama that I watched, “Nigeru Wa Haji…” (I’ll review it later) and she looked excited. I guess she was trying to show that she knew the drama and that she liked it too, or maybe she was happy with the fact that I liked J-movies and dramas. Gosh, how lovely she is! I really want to befriend her 😍❀️😍 Maybe if I travel to Japan, I can then stay at her place, eh? πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ Gosh, my bad, I’m so shameless. I guess this is the reason why some people do not like me πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ˜…πŸ˜…βœŒοΈβœŒοΈβœŒοΈ

But anyway, that’s the story of the day.

PS: This morning I didn’t eat rice for breakfast. I thought I had some rice, and I still had some soup that I cooked before, that I stored in my fridge; so I thought I just needed to heat it up in the microwave. Alas, I forgot that I had eaten up the rice the night before. I still had the soup but not the rice, I still had to cook it first. *Sigh

PPS: This morning when I was leaving for school, I saw some police right behind my apartment. My apt. manager actually told me, when I ran into him, to take a detour to campus because there was a police line behind. Something must have happened, he said. I didn’t know what, but I did say hi to one of the police. It was scary but the police was nice 😁 I don’t know, I’m always scared of police even though I did nothing wrong πŸ™ˆπŸ˜… I guess I can’t marry a policeman, right? Or should I marry one to cure my policephobia? Haha But anyway, it reminded me of strange things the day before. I saw someone riding a bike into the dry river underneath/in the passage behind my apartment. Then after I went home from school in the evening, I saw a car parked right in the middle of the small road behind my apartment, nobody was inside, but I accidentally saw someone in the passage underneath, making a graffiti (vandalism?). I’m not sure if it is related to the police line this morning but I guess I don’t need to freak out because by the time I went back home today, the police line was no longer there. I am still curious about what had happened, though…
