Hello^^ Sorry for posting about anime yet again ๐๐๐ โ But I really have to, seriously. I kinda started listing the anime I watched and liked, and there are about 80 animes that I remembered to jot down, and perhaps only 20 of them have been shared here, meaning I’ve still got a lot to share! Not to mention those that I watched but forgot. And we’re not even talking about anime movies here! Gosh… It’s a lot! But it’s kinda hard to group the anime in one or the same posts, especially because there are lots of kinds of genres, and sometimes one theme is overlapped with one another. Like, romcom, isekai, hero, school, slice of life, etc. I’m not sure how to categorize them๐๐ But today I decided to go with this theme: Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy Anime๐๐๐ฅฐ๐๐๐ฅ
Well, if you love comedy with spices of romance especially involving the characters that start with quarrels, fights, etc. but then turn into lovers, then this post is definitely for you. I myself love various kinds of genres, ’cause like I’ve always said, I love stories, and various kinds of stories simply “enrich” my soul. But yes, I love comedy, including romantic comedy, ’cause usually, they’re cute, sweet, and hilarious๐คช So entertaining ๐คฃ๐โ
Alright, without further ado, here are the anime:
1. Toradora! [ใจใใใฉ๏ผ]
One Season. 25 episodes. I must really put this as number 1, especially because I found out that one of my favorite Japanese idols loves this anime too! (It’s Sakuma Daisuke from Snow Man๐ฅฐ๐๐๐ฅ I haven’t posted about them, I guess I owe you one ๐๐
โ) Summary: A boy (named Ryuuji) looked like a delinquent but he was actually a nice guy. He’s good at cleaning, cooking, and other household chores. Meanwhile, a girl (named Taiga) looked so cute but she’s got a fierce personality. The two somehow encountered each other and happened to live near each other. The girl acted “mean” and “bossy” to the boy but she’s got her circumstances. And the guy was always nice to her, being a very kind guy he was. Somehow they got closer to each other.
Well, if I remember correctly, they don’t express their love quite explicitly. The girl was just being a tsundere. And the guy was very nice and kind-hearted, except for his face that’s portrayed to look like a delinquent ๐คช But gosh, I really love Ryuuji in this anime. I wish I had a man who’d care for me like Ryuuji happily caring for Taiga. ๐ฅฐ๐๐๐ฅ (Well, my idol, Sakuma, of course, loves the girl ๐คฃ๐).
2. Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet (Boarding School Juliet) [ๅฏๅฎฟๅญฆๆ กใฎใธใฅใชใจใใ]
One Season. 12 episodes. As you might have guessed from the title, the story is kind of like Romeo&Juliet. Summary: Romio and Juliet were from two different countries that were at odds with each other. They attended the same school/academy that was held in neutral territory, which people from both countries could attend. The feud between countries somehow continued in this academy, carried out by the students from respective countries. Romio and Juliet both happened to be the dorm leaders and while actually having feelings for each other, they had to hide it and pretend to hate each other in front of everyone in the academy. They gradually realized that it’s somehow impossible to keep their feelings and relationship hidden forever. How would they overcome their situation?ย
I love this anime. It’s hilarious. I guess you can imagine it, right? Like, when they were being lovey-dovey with each other, they suddenly had to find a way to hide or disappear when they noticed someone familiar approaching them, even though that person might not actually notice their presence. Gosh, so much for love ๐คฃ๐คชโ And then there’s the family issue too. It’s kinda complicated. I don’t understand why people should keep the feud and moreover force their kids to continue the feud. Sigh. But, really, it’s entertaining ๐๐๐๐ฅ
3. Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen (Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World) [ใญใใจๅใฎๆๅพใฎๆฆๅ ดใใใใใฏไธ็ใๅงใพใ่ๆฆ]
One Season. 12 episodes. The story is actually kind of like Gakkou no Juliet, except that it involved magic/supernatural/astral power. Summary: Two countries were having a feud with each other. One country feared the astral power and wished to destroy those who had the power, and the other country was where the mages sought refuge trying to flee the oppression. Iska, the talented knight from the first country, who was previously imprisoned for freeing a mage prisoner, was set free and sent to hunt a fearsome mage called Ice Calamity Witch. Iska somehow found that both he and the witch were of the same mission and had the same goal, i.e. to end the crusade and create peace while co-existing peacefully with each other. And coincidentally, they kept running into each other in the neutral territory, where wars were prohibited, and their relationship grew.
I’m not sure how I felt about this anime. I watched it when I didn’t know what to watch and just went ahead to give it a try. The story is not that bad. It’s actually interesting and the “coincidences” were kinda funny. But I guess I wasn’t happy with the ending because it felt like they didn’t have a good closure. Like, are they going to continue the story in another season or what? I can’t tell. But if you don’t mind such endings, then maybe you can try watching this anime yourself^^
4. Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii (The World is Still Beautiful) [ใใใงใไธ็ใฏ็พใใ]
One Season. 12 Episodes. Summary: Nike was one of the princesses of Rain Dukedom, and she and the women in her family possessed the power to summon the rain with their singing voices. Somehow among her siblings, Nike was chosen to be sent as a bride to marry the King of the Sun Kingdom, who’s conquered their region. The King hoped Nike could call rain for their kingdom as the rain never fell in their area. At first Nike was scared and tried to rebel against the king because she heard that the king was a cruel person like a monster. However, (since this is a romcom๐คชโ), Nike found that the king was entirely different from the rumors. Somehow she gradually fell for him.
You might think it’s a cliche, but what do you expect? Almost all enemies-to-lovers romcom storylines are almost always like this, right? But I think it’s still interesting. The story is kinda cute and sweet too especially because the king is super young so sometimes he looked childish but he tried his best doing his job as a responsible king and being protective of Nike. There’s no romanticization of power(-relation) abuse by the king either (if I remember correctly). So I guess it’s good. I mean, the king was trying to understand the girl, and the girl also made efforts to show her worth, so it’s kinda reciprocal and mutual, which I love :’)
5. Rikei ga Koi ni Ochita no de Shoumei shitemita (Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It) [็็ณปใๆใซ่ฝใกใใฎใง่จผๆใใฆใฟใ]
One Season. 12 Episodes. Actually, I just checked that there’s a second season, but the second season is currently ongoing. I’m happy ’cause my fav character, Ibarada, gets more highlights in this season ๐ฅฐ๐โค Summary: Two scientists, Himuro and Yukimura, believed that there must be a logical and scientific explanation for everything. They were actually attracted to each other, but they were not sure of it, so they kept experimenting with their feelings “scientifically.”
This anime is not exactly enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy, but I can’t help including it here for its hilarity ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ I mean, it’s so funny how hard they tried to be logical and look for scientific explanations to justify what happened. For example, they measured their heartbeats or their temperature when they were together. They insisted to find something that could convince them that what they’re feeling was indeed love. Their analysis was hilarious, I just can’t — ๐คฃ๐๐ But I think it’s a good anime to learn somehow about science (especially if you love science!) ’cause it will use every chance to bring scientific facts into the anime, like when one of the main characters was using Boba analogy to teach physics. It’s cool ๐
6. ย Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de (Love After World Domination) [ๆใฏไธ็ๅพๆใฎใใจใง]
One season. 12 Episodes. This anime is actually still ongoing ๐โ Summary: Fudou and Desumi were leaders of two opposing groups. Fudou was the red ranger of the “hero” side, while Desumi was the reaper princess of the “villain” side. Somehow Fudou fell in love for Desumi and decided to confess. Having no experience in love, they both decided to date each other but consequently, they had to hide their relationship from the others and pretend to fight each other when they met. Would their relationship last?
The story of this anime is actually absurd ๐คช๐โbut it’s still hilarious ๐คฃ๐๐ฅ I mean, the story is kinda a mix of everything. They’ve got the power-ranger-like things, and they’ve got enemies, and I’m not quite sure how to explain this kind of relationship๐ โ but I’m not the type who problematizes everything in fiction. I know it’s fictional, and I understand that a certain thing – even if it’s illogical, hard to explain, or doesn’t make sense –ย is sometimes necessary for the plot. So even though I find the story absurd to some extent, I’ve got no problem with it. I’m just here to be entertained by the hilarity ๐๐๐๐ฅ But to be honest, I love how they’re quite straightforward with their feelings. That’s one of the things that make it hilarious actually ๐คฃ๐๐ฅ I love how they’re sincerely happy to meet each other. The little jealousy is cute too. The trust they’ve got for each other. How they don’t have to guess about how each other actually feels. They’re pretty open with each other and communicate everything. Their love is so pure and innocent. I really love this sweet couple. I hope that somehow they can date normally like ordinary people ’cause they deserve it ๐ฅฐ๐๐ฅ (But, yeah, I understand that this is just fiction. Hahaha)
Alright, that’s the anime for today. Don’t forget to read my other anime posts here^^
